Artist Emulation- William Cristenberry
William Cristenberry, an Alabama native artist. He was born in 1936 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Every summer, his family would take trips to Hale County, AL. These trips served as inspiration for him that would define his work forever.
Although William Cristenberry doesn't define himself as an Alabama artist, regional themes are easy to spot in his work. He work often examines controversial subjects such as the Ku Klux Klan. He has never been a racist or white supremacist, he rather makes art that was largely inspired by his childhood.
For my emulation of Cristenberry, I went to where I grew up, Helena, AL. It had been some time since I had last visited, but everything still remained. I spent a lot of time in Helena trying to find the right spots, but after I returned home, I was very satisfied with my results.
